Finals Favorite Comes Up Short

Candy Pratt

Candy Pratt, one of the top Cowgirls in the history of the IGRA, appeared to be in great shape as the rodeo season came to an end. At the Space City Stampede in Houston she won five buckles plus All Around Cowgirl. Candy was aiming at another All Around title at Finals Rodeo - a title she hasn't won the past two years, after winning four in a row from 1999 to 2002. She's been in the running both years, but didn't quite reached the top.

Once again she had a strong showing, but came up a bit short, placing second in the competition for All Around Cowgirl. First place went to Crystal Marlin of Arkansas.

Candy did win the Break-Away Roping buckle and Barrel Racing along with placing 2nd in Calf Roping on Foot. But she didn't garner enough points in other events to beat out Crystal.

However, she had to consider it another very successful rodeo season. And no doubt she'll be back to make another run at it next year.
